Freelance Writer
2016 - Present
Since September 2016, I have worked multiple freelance writing jobs, including helping get copy up for MyGoodpoint.com.
Between 2016 and 2019, I wrote or edited 16 textbooks (including two that were part of a series with which the publisher went forward based on my proposal) for educational publisher Rosen/Enslow. I also edited two existing books and rewrote two others (resulting in a change of more than 75 percent of the original content). I researched and wrote these textbooks within a tight deadline (generally a two- to three-month turnaround). The publisher stopped commissioning new work in 2019.
Since early 2017, I have worked a couple of one-off freelance marketing writing jobs, including a white paper on a highly scientific product and an email/SEO campaign for a corporation that oversees about a dozen industrial home service companies in North Texas. Other projects are detailed below.
Writer
Goodpoint
For this start-up, I do very occasional freelance writing and editing. This work includes sketching out article ideas in outline format, article writing, copy editing other's work, and occasionally helping with social media content. I also assist in developing strategy for content partnerships.
Copywriter
C2G
For five months, I led the copy writing efforts for this digital fundraising start-up. My duties included writing approximately 40 emails per week for clients as well as rewriting the company's website content, proofing clients' other written works, and assisting in clients' social media efforts.
I continued to write for C2G on an as-needed basis for 11 months.
Copywriter
Bright Social Agency
As an on-needed basis, I wrote internal copy for this boutique marketing agency and copy for their clients, which included an author, a major coffee company, and various other clients.
Marketing Copywriter
Servitas
My main duties included writing and editing a variety of print and digital marketing materials for the Corporate Marketing team. This included proposals, blog posts, press releases, and creating content guidelines and checklists for everything from blogs to white papers to case studies. I implemented several content processes to improve the company's brand and reputation in the market. I was responsible for conducting SWOT analyses on competitors' proposals and other competitor analyses, all of which I sent directly to the company CEO.
I left my full-time position with Servitas in March 2018, but continued on as a freelance proposal writer through summer 2018.
